About the Program
When residents in the City of Warsaw have yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, and small branches) that needs to be hauled away, our employees place this yard waste in an area where they later grind it into mulch.
Once in the spring and once in the fall, we offer this mulch back to the citizens of Warsaw free of charge. All that is required of you is to bring a truck, trailer, or other type of container, and the employees at the Street Department will load the mulch for you to put on your gardens or flower beds. You can get as many loads as you want during any of the four-hour Saturday times.
Residents are invited to bring trailers, dump trucks, pickup trucks, and/or small containers between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on scheduled dates at West Center Street just inside of Boggs Industrial Park. If there is inclement weather on some days that prevents pick-up, the schedule may be extended.
Dates for 2017 have not yet been scheduled.
The City of Warsaw was the first in the State of Indiana to successfully develop a mulch giveaway program (1991). In 1992, we were awarded the Governor's Award for Excellence in Recycling.
This program has been very successful in the past and will hopefully continue to be so in the future. Unfortunately, neither city nor county residents are allowed to drop off their brush at this site. In addition, we cannot accept brush from county residents or contractors.
