About the Kit Program
The weatherization program was established to provide education and simple materials that any family can use in their home to make it more energy efficient and reduce utility bills. This program is funded through local grants and donations.
The program also provides two towns in the county per year with CFL light bulbs. This is to encourage the use of this product. There are 32,202 households in Kosciusko County. If each home changed out one bulb, there would be an energy bill savings of $830,000 in a seven-year time span. This kind of savings is essential not only for families, but for the economy of our community.
Kits & Classes
Educational classes are presented throughout the county. Families given utility assistance, those on housing programs, and low-to-moderate fixed-income families can request kits. The kits are delivered to the home, and a safety inspection of the home is provided. Volunteers install the energy kit materials for those unable to do so themselves.
